As I was nailing off the 2nd log stringer, I realized I goofed. I wante to leave about 3/16" between the edge of the 'door' and my stiffeners so allow for any weirdness in the framing, but didn't allow for it on the short ends. A quick buzz on the miter saw took care of most of that....
