Unfortunately, when cutting one of the longer outside pieces to length, something slipped while I was measuring and I cut a piece an inch too short. I decided instead of dropping $40 on another piece of spruce, milling it and waiting 3 days for stain to day, I'd add a piece of with a scarf joint and then re-cut to length. Doing so, the joint would be very hard to see - and it'd save me $40 and several hours of lost work.
