This is under the deck on the back side of the wall the fireplace is installed into. The new popout is directly over the area to the left. As part of the new permit requirements, framing needed to be done to help carry the load of the fireplace. This was not done properly by the crew that was here, even after I explained how I wanted it done to make deck board replacement easy *and* carry the loads.
