Plastic laid down to keep crap off the hot-mop. Any debris/dust could compromise the concrete float layer from "sticking" when it's poured. I had to keep an eye on anything sharp (nails/screws etc) that ended up on the plastic so I didn't step on it and compromise the hot-mop membrane.
