When I went to remove the hold-downs for the cooktop, I discovered what I thought were false drawer fronts under the cooktop area were actually drawers! 16 years in this house and I had no idea they were drawers. Looks like the builder ran a screw through the slides to stop them from opening.
Interesting this is, while I was doing my kitchen, I was also doing a remodel on a neighbor's kitchen (Same model house) and his cabinets had the same drawers screwed shut. Bizarre!
