I tape everything, then caulk the baseboard to the floor and walls. Once I paint, I run a knife down the caulk lines and unmask everything. It leaves nice crisp lines at the wall and covers up and wonkiness between the baseboard and the flooring. Here, I've done my initial fill and sand. The filler always shrinks so it takes 2 or 3 applications to get everything smooth.
