Those in the know will see the problem. For those that aren't, this is a flare fitting. Very common for gas appliance hookups. Flare fittings do NOT require teflon tape or pipe dope! This has both and, to top it off, the teflon tape that IS on this, it the type used for water/fluid connections, not gas! This is what the "professional" appliance connection people did when we moved in.
