Since the new refrigerator is a little deeper than the new cabinets, I wanted to add a recess in this wall to allow hinge line to be in the same plane as the end panels. When finished, this will give me just about 3" of extra space to push the refrigerator back. I'll need to move these wires a bit so after cutting the bottom plate, I'll notch it, push the wires back and tack on a couple nail plates to protect them.
