We selected a cabinet builder and I worked with him to finalize the layout. One issue with the space was the open beams ceiling. The beams were milled from old telephone poles, but were not the same 'depth' as each other and some were tapered along their length. Trying to determine the height of the upper cabinets was a bit problematic as we were concerned their location would accentuate the differences in height of the beams. You can see the difference in 2 of the beams here. This is over the sink area and would not have uppers.
