As part of the grand plan for the house, all these planks above the windows and doors are coming out. This means all the kerf bead needs to be replaced as well, as the sides aren't long enough to just add a new piece above the window or door I'm working on. Easiest way I found to get this stuff started is by cutting a line about about 1-1/2" from the inside of the kerf bead, then driving a screw through the kerf bead and then using a pry bar to pop one end loose and then pry it free of the wall.
