This is one of the load spreaders in the platform the fireplace sits on. I've ditched the 3/8" OSB 'floor' and will route out the marked areas 5/8" to drop the fireplace 1 inch. The fireplace's 'feet' will sit in these notches without the bottom of the fireplace touching them.
