Now to secure the thimble outside. I removed the mickey-mouse 2x4s the knuckleheads used as a 'spacer' after doing some research. I found I could install the thimble flush with the sheer panel as long as I didn't install the siding right up to the aluminum. I got it all leveled up and screwed it in place. It'll have to come off when I do the Tyvek wrap, but for now, it's good.
