I added new bottom plates around the inside of the popout to seal off the gaps between the floor and the decking outside. I'm going to lower the fireplace to try and get the finished mantle height a few inches lower. It was almost 60" high with the last iteration because somebody either didn't listen, or doesn't know how to read a tape measure. (They clearly don't know how to use a level or a framing square)
