Part of the corrections was to space the thimble (The exhaust for hot gasses) off the sheer panel a little bit to avoid burying it in the siding. This was the solution.
Speaking of siding, I found the proper siding and told the contractor where to get it and how much each 10 foot piece would run. I did not provide quantities specifically to see if anyone had measured this stuff prior to my doing all the legwork. Contractor told me his foreman had measured and he had the quantities required. When I pressed for the amount he was going to order, he didn't have an answer. The next day, he texted me to ask me if I'd purchased the siding and when it would be arriving.
That was the final straw for me and I let him have it with my response.
